PLANETA VEGETARIANA 2008.

Dear Madam / Sir,

This is our great honor and oportunity to inform You about the second exhibition of health, vegetarian food and organic agriculture which is going to be held in our town Novi Sad (Vojvodina, Serbia) under the name of Planeta Vegetariana 2008.

Terms of exhibition being open are from 26^th September till 28^th September 2008, within the Master Hall of the Novi Sad Fair, where many different exhibitions have been held for years and that has become already a tradition of our town. This place is being a “host” for great many fairs all year around. The new, representative and luxurious look of the Master Hall of Novi Sad Fair is located on a surface of 6.000 sqm and offers a complete logistiks along with its congress centre, for all kinds of fairs.

The exhibition called Planeta Vegetariana has complete support from the side of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Hydroeconomy of Republic of Serbia.

Like last year, this fair is going to include all kinds of healthy food, products which are made without meat, organic products, products made from fruit and vegetables, products made from different kind of cereals and grain, natural fruit-juices and water, etical cosmetics, medicines made on basis of plants and all the other kinds of various other products of highest quality which are produced in harmony with the nature. Besides the exhibition part , the fair is going to have an ammazingly rich and wide-ranged programe, which includes various promotions of fitness and sport activities, organic fashion show, and of course some presentations and lectures on healthy eating, health itself, serious relationship between health and ecology, and we also expect to welcome many foreign exhibitors and lecturers to take part at this fair.

We are inviting You to come and be one of the most welcomed exhibitors and take part in this manifestation.

The basic idea of the fair is to gether all the great and successful producers from the whole region, which has made big and useful steps towards health and healthy life-style as well as achived great success in producing healthy food. This is what we wish to the smaller producers as well, who belong to this new wave of industry and they all will mean the future of our healthy society.

On our whole Globe there are always some great events but always happening in small bites. They are here for the reason of keeping the overall health of the environment and they are exremely important. We truly hope that on this fair it will be a positive contact reached between the exhibitors and the guests, our visitors, from all over the region, and that they will soon work on uniting their products for some future actions in order to promote health and healthy environment in further periods of time.

Offer for the exhibitors at the Fair of Planeta Vegetariana

Offer for the exhibitors within the sector of Topic Stands at the fair:

Price of one square meter:

80 euros

The price includes:

- topic stand

- separate room for catering facilities (kitchen)

- one or two info desks

- a table and four chairs (or more chairs if needed)

The minimum size of topic stand is 12 sqm, wider and bigger spaces are the dimension of 24 sqm. There are, of course, possibilities for even larger spaces.

Extra needs and demands of the exhibitors are to be paid as a plus:

1. Dividing electric box (for refrigerators, cupboards etc.):

a.) 50 euros for a device up to 15 kW

b.) Connection to electric power stronger than 15 kW makes an ammount of 80 euros.

After our mutually positive agreement we are sending You the application forms for the fair. The paiment of fees for taking part at the fair should be completed up to 10^th September 2008.

ORGANISERS REPORT

Vegetarian fair in Serbia? This issue has raised quite a few eyebrows, but all the non-believers had a chance to prove themselves wrong. Using great marketing campaign, unforeseen for any first time held fair in our country, Fair of Health, Vegetarian Food and Organic Agriculture Planeta Vegetariana was held from 5 – 7^th October in the hall of master center of Novi Sad Fair. It had a long period of preparation which took six months of intensive labor. Web site of the fair with all the necessary information’s was officially released in August 2007. Media and advertising campaign started 20 days prior to the beginning of actual event, during which period various propaganda materials was available at the health food stores or handed over to the passers by on the streets. Last phase of the campaign consisted mainly of big press conference, held on the restaurant rooftop of warehouse Bazar in Novi Sad, on October 1., World Day of Vegetarianism.

Special video promotive clip was shot in the shamrock field near the town of Kula, with little girl and the lamb in the leading roles. Clip was aired four times a day on RTV Vojvodina. It’s audio version nine times a day on two local radios – O21 and Signal. Visits to the local and state radio and TV stations were done on the daily basis: RTS – morning program, RTV – morning program, RTV – Brazde, RTV – Sunday Afternoon, TV Panonia – morning program, TV Panonia – Agriculture, Radio Sajam, TV Most, Radio Sarajevo, Radio O21 and many others. Press was also thoroughly covering the event on the large scale – before the event, during and after the fair, reflecting on its success. Healthy Life, Dnevnik, Blic, B92, E – Gate, Poljoprivrednik, Gradjanski List, Privredni Pregled are just a few among the ones that reported on Planeta Vegetariana. For us, in every media appearance, most important issue was to explain the true meaning of the terms of organic agriculture and vegetarian diet, so that the majority of people would be informed about this relatively new subject in Serbia. We were pleasantly surprised with response of all the media, and so that therefore the subject of vegetarianism suddenly became common knowledge in Serbia, even against all the ignorance and various prejudices about it.

The fair was officially opened at noon, October 5^th 2007. with supportive musical program. Opening speeches were delivered by representatives of sponsors, Mr. Sasa Stevanovic in front of the JKP “Trznica”, miss Tanja Vanic, in front of the tourism board of Novi Sad, and Stevan Zivkov Andricin, in front of the organizer of Planeta Vegeriana Fair, Cityfocus agency.

Three day festival consisted itself from three parts. Apart from the exhibit part, where more than 40 manufacturers and importers took part in presenting their vegetarian and organic products, ethical cosmetics, organically bred fruits and vegetables, visitors of the fair also had an opportunity to enjoy in dynamic fitness program, as well as in many experts’ lectures on the subject of organic agriculture and vegetarian diets which were held in the congress hall of master center, which offered fantastic possibilities for all congress and lecturing activities. Total amount of visitors (around 3000) have secured great vivacity and exerted constant attention of staff on the stands. During the fair all participants and guests made a list of demands and adressed it to relevant institutions, in order to gain bigger support in development of organic agriculture.

Fair was a success. We surely hope that the next meeting will bring even more local exhibitors, as well as we expect that it will attract greater number of those from abroad.

STEVAN ZIVKOV ANDRICIN

First Fair of Health, Vegetarian Food and Organic Agriculture “Planeta Vegetariana” was held from 5 – 7^Th October in the hall of the master center of Novi Sad Fair, organized by Novi Sad’s Cityfocus agency and under the auspices of Serbian Ministry of Agriculture. This first opportunity to exhibit their products on the manifestation of this kind attracted 40 exhibitors, mainly from Serbia.

“Planeta Vegetariana” presented a three day opportunity for about 3000 visitor to get acquainted with health food products, as well as fruit, vegetable and cereal products, ethical cosmetics, herb based remedies and other products which production is in harmony with nature. Fair also had a number of supporting programs, all of which various lectures about food, health and ecology attracted most attention.

According to director of Cityfocus agency Stevan Zivkov Andricin, organizers and participants are pleased with the first fair. It is because the general idea was to kick start the talk about healthy way of nourishment in Serbia. “Fair attracted about 3000 people, and we are especially pleased with how the media covered the event. Our biggest surprise, apart from the large number of visitors, was that it was quite normal to talk about the vegetarianism, and that’s because there was not much talk about it in Serbia, only much prejudices. People didn’t even know what organic agriculture exactly means,” Zivkov stated.

Cityfocus director has reminded that one of the motives for organizing “Planeta Vegetariana” fair was that the production of the health food is one of the biggest export chances for Serbia, but that the little had been done in order to promote that idea, and so that the fair of this kind could be of great importance for Serbia to become a leader in production of health food in the region. “In this country we have a blockade, I don’t know why the ecology issues are completely out of interest of media, which is the cause for great concern. Serbia has fallen into the some sort of stale routine, so, concerning that question, people should be awared and pointed in the right direction. We fall greatly behind the world and, concerning the question of organic agriculture, division is of a catastrophic proportion, even with all that talk about joining the EU. For us, it’s totally incomprehensive,” Zivkov said.

Zivkov claims that the ministries in Serbia do no research about potential number of vegetarians in the state, yet information from the neighboring states prove that the large percentage of their population embraced the idea, and that’s because vegetarian diet and organic production greatly diminish the risks of disease. “I cannot estimate the exact number of vegetarians in our country. We only know that the large number of people is fasting and that there is significant number of vegetarians. Alas, the authorities, who should be dealing with the issue, are actually dealing with entirely different matters,” Zivkov said.

According to his estimates, there are almost no attempts in prevention and education of Serbian citizens in healthy diet. “On television there is no single campaign against drug abuse even with that being great problem for us. As far as the medicine and vegetarianism are concerned, here even doctors are not sufficiently informed. And if I say that Nikola Tesla and Albert Einstein were Vegetarians, then I really don’t really see where is the problem. Our doctors constantly preach that we should eat meat, but I find that point of view completely wrong. It is scientifically proven that we can nourish ourselves without use of meat. Not to mention the benefits of organically bred food which is without pesticides and poisons. Timidly, here and there in the world, they are announcing estimates that all of the soil treated with those agents will be totally fruitless in about ten years. Alas, that is not public knowledge as yet,” Zivkov said.

He also confirmed that the next “Planeta Vegetariana” will take place. “We hope for the much greater participation of foreign exhibitors. It is a great problem to get thru in the region and that is because the autumn calendar is dotted with many manifestations which concern agriculture. We should only brand our fair to a certain degree, so that it gains importance. Also, we think that in next three years we will manage to stabilize it and make it recognized in the region. That is our task in the following period and I hope we will succeed,” Stevan Zivkov Andricin concluded.

Participants of the first “Planeta Vegetariana” fair have placed a request to the government of Republic of Serbia and its relevant ministries, as well as the relevant bureaus in province, to adopt, as soon as possible, the national strategy for development of organic agriculture. As stated in joint communiqué, national strategy for development of organic agriculture ‘should harmonize domestic legislation with that of EU.’

Government of Serbia and relevant ministries should also create institutional conditions for enforcing those laws and donate much greater subventions for production and processing organic food. Also, the public should get notified about national program for spreading the protected areas for organic agriculture, so that by the year 2010. the 30 percent of agricultural land in Serbia become as such.

Communiqué also states that government of Serbia and relevant ministries should “obtain better cooperation with media and start education of manufacturers which will contribute in spreading the knowledge about organic food.”
